I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Jimmy is the best thing I ever picked up at Walgreens.
Since Jimmy is shy to write, I’ll be the only one writing “Our Story.” We started out as co-workers at Walgreens. I had moved to Seattle (temporarily, I thought) and needed a job. Through many random twists of fate, I ended up at Walgreens. Jimmy was one of the first people I connected with at work. Okay, scratch that– Jimmy was just insanely attractive and I wanted to get to know him!
After a few “friendly” maneuvers (“let’s go to the movies together… with a group of friends”), we finally ended up on a solo date together, which was baking a pizza at his apartment and watching a movie. We never agreed to be “a couple,” or decided we were “dating”– there was just a kiss. And we were together– and not long after, we knew we were in love.
Our Engagement
It took us 6 years to become engaged. SIX! I don’t know any other woman who would have waited that long.
To his credit, Jimmy said he would have asked earlier, but every time he would think about getting a ring, I would ask him why we weren’t getting married yet, and he wanted it to be a surprise.
Like everything else in our relationship, things didn’t go quite as planned. Jimmy tied the ring box to our dog Eddie’s collar. The plan was to take the dogs for a walk to the bluff on New Year’s Eve, where he would pop the question. Unfortunately, we got a call from my friend Michelle, who wanted to hang out and watch the fireworks in West Seattle. By the time we got home, it was too late to walk the dogs. I scratched the dogs behind the ears and said I was going to bed.
“HEY! How come you haven’t pet Eddie all day long?!” demanded Jimmy. “What are you talking about?!” I said. “You just saw me pet him!” I’ll admit, I was a little annoyed.
Then Jimmy turned Eddie’s collar, revealing a small blue box, which housed the most exquisite ring. It didn’t go as planned, but it was definitely unexpected– and as far as I’m concerned– just perfect.

All I have to say is…AWWWWW
“It took us 6 years to become engaged. SIX! I don’t know any other woman who would have waited that long.”
Ahem.
Ah, well, good things come to those who wait, right?
Touché, Christine. Props to you for waiting that long… and maybe longer?
